<p>Many times we&#8217;ll see where the homeowner has tried to repair the boot by placing an asphalt based sealing material on the boot.  This type of repair won&#8217;t work for long so it&#8217;s better to just go ahead and replace all the rubber boots once one goes bad! </p>

<p>Once roof trusses are cut then the original truss manufacturer or a structural engineer needs to recommend the necessary repairs. </p>
<p>Here you&#8217;ll see where two trusses have been cut to make room for a set of attic stairs!</p>

<p>The T&amp;P needs to have an extension on it so that if water needs to be removed from the tank the water can terminate on the exterior of the home.  And the extension needs to terminate no more than 4 to 6 inches off of the soil so that if hot water was discharging out of the extension you wouldn&#8217;t get scalded.  </p>
<p>Well here&#8217;s an example of a &#8220;scalding situation&#8221; we came up on recently.</p>

<p>Second, the massive amount of lint produced from the clothes dryer gets all over everything close to the clothes dryer causing a potential fire hazard.  Clothes dryers should terminate on the exterior on the home, no exceptions!</p>
